Walwal (2018) Genre: Drama Walwal,  "WALang pangarap, WALang kinabukasan". Drink until you drop. Drink like there's no tomorrow. This movie is about a barkada composed of college students. They are Dondi who is taking law as his father wishes, Marco a certified f*** boy, Bobby a film major student, and Anthony who could just study in their college because of his scholarship from being a volleyball player. The story focuses on the personal life and struggles of each member and not to the barkada as one. A movie with four interesting stories which are perfectly and beautifully linked together. Mr. & Mrs. Cruz (2018) Genre: Drama All are just right and this made the movie interesting. This is a combination of not too heavy drama and the right amount of comedy and romance. A perfect mix!  Honestly, I just expect that this will be just an OK movie. But I was surprised! This movie is a WOW! The story and characters are believable and relatable. It's like the story of everyone who got over to or going through a heartbreak. The story is about Raffy (JC Santos) and Gela (Ryza Cenon) who are both heartbroken travelers spending their respective me-time in El Nido Palawan. Because they are in the same tour group and share the same last name, they are mistaken for a married couple. This movie is as beautiful as El Nido. A must-see. A Silent Voice (2016) (Koe No Katachi - Original Title) Genre: Drama, Animation Another great animated movie from Japan. 'A Silent Voice' also translated as 'The Shape of Voice' is a Japanese animated teen drama film which is based on a manga of the same name. The movie is about Shoya Ishida, a school bully and, Shoko Nishimiya, a girl with hearing disability. In their sixth grade when Shoko transfers to Shoya's elementary school and tells everyone that she's deaf, Shoya begins to bully her. The word of the bullying reaches the principal and all including his friends singled out him as the one responsible. Then, the table turns and Shoya finds himself as the victim of the bullying. You may feel sad and uncomfortable with the story and may see how bad the life of a differently-challenged person may be. What I like about this movie are the awareness and lessons it gives to the viewers. The pacing of the story feels too slow for me but it has never faile...

Love, Simon (2018) Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance This is a must-see movie. A movie that was created for a purpose. An eye-opener, to show that like us, everyone needs and wants to be treated and accepted equally. No tag and label. I will describe this as an ordinary love story with the extraordinary struggle. This movie is about Simon and his secret. Don’t want to spoil anything. The Scam (2009) Genre: Crime, Heist, Drama (Available on Netflix ) An interesting movie. If you are trading and playing in the stock market, you'll enjoy this. The Scam is the first film in South Korea to tackle stock market. The story is about Hyun-soo who try his fortune in the stock market and loses everything in his first attempt. But then, after five years of spending his life on the front of the computer screen as a full-time ant (individual investor), he eventually reaches the top of the game. There are some parts of this movie that are boring but still, you'll hold onto it because of its distinct story. You'll also get some lesson and realization from this movie. Amateur (2018) Genre: Sports, Drama  A Netflix Original Do you love basketball or NBA? If yes, this one would be a nice pick for you. Amateur is about the rise and struggles of a talented 14-year-old student basketball player. At the start, the movie is kinda boring. It was slow and low. How the story was told and how they build up the characters. However, in the middle until the end, the story became interesting a little exciting. You need an intuition of a basketball fan to be able to relate and appreciate this movie. Don’t watch this if you don’t like basketball. Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned Genre: Drama, Science Fiction & Fantasy (Available on Iflix) This is a fantasy movie from South Korea. A girl named Su-rin moves to a remote island with her step-father after her mother passes away. She met Sung-min, an orphan boy and they become best friends.  One day, they venture into a cave in the forest with a group of kids and discover a glittering egg, which, according to the local folk tale, holds a monster that can instantly turn a child into an adult. Yes, the movie started strong. How they build the character of Su-rin and her relationship with Sung-min. However, after the first 15 minutes, the movie became confusing. I thought the movie would be a fantasy love story, but it turns into a mystery, crime, and fantasy. Also, the character of Sung-min (played by the lead actor) was weak.
